Peg People!! Ornaments or Gift Tags or...??? So fun!

homemade by jill: homemade holidays: this year's ornaments

OH!! I like each of these, but, I am particularly draw to those PEG PEOPLE!! Wouldn't they make great gift tags for ANY occasion! And personalized, too... Or even a Peg People family for my daughter's doll house!! Hm... that might work with the old fashioned clothes pins, too... Check out the cute chickadee ornaments that would also work for gift tags or just to hang around the house for their cuteness. I would!! In fact, I may have to do just that!!

Enjoy looking at all the crafty fun!!

Oh, My!!! Etched Owl Glasses!!!

homemade by jill: etched owl glasses (click the link!)

I know, right? You are wondering where I have been... Well, getting up my nerve to face all the things I have yet to post. SOOO behind. Been challenging to keep up. So sorry, but so grateful that you are still there.

I just had to show you this very fun and feasible crafty idea!!! I am going through an OWLS faze. I organized an Owl themed party for my daughter's 7th birthday in December (which I have yet to post), and all that Owl-cuteness-overload is still flowing over. This idea is BRILLIANT! And, Jill makes it seem easy to pull off. May be worth a try for those looking for a unique and not too expensive gift idea, maybe even for an owl party. Love it!

Hope you find it as smile-making as I do! Have a great day!!

Summer Catch Up...

Hello! What a crazy summer we have had so far. Shocking how quickly it is passing us by. Have not accomplished nearly enough in the way of crafts with my kids or for me, as we have, sadly and overwhelmingly, dealt with various illness since the very day school let out. Disappointing, I suppose, but we are trying to make up for lost time since it appears we are having a break. I hope to post about a bunch of different projects soon. Yay!! I just wanted to make sure I let you know that I changed one simple thing on my account and it messed some things up a bit... Trying to get it all sorted out... Hope you are well, in the meantime. Be safe, and God bless you... celita

Far too long, I know... But... a GIVEAWAY!!!

So, I know I have not been around for FAR TOO LONG. I know it, and I have a stockpile of art to post. Only... I had to make some changes in storing my things, and now it is not as convenient. Not to mention how little I am online these days. I WILL do it soon. That is on my list of to-do. Only... today I have to support the work of another artist. Her name is Francesca Quartraro, and she has the simplest, sweetest art drawings/paintings of children. I truly love them. She is having a giveaway, and so I thought to share with you her site, and the opportunity of winning with you. All you have to do is link her blog to your own blog and post on her, or on Facebook, copy the address that you have mentioned her, then go back to her site, the post where she has the giveaway, leave a comment and the address of where you mentioned her pasted with it. Not hard... at all. So... Click HERE for her site and the post of the giveaway (all in Italian) ... and click HERE for examples of her work. Below are some immediate examples of her art from her newsletters (there are some other very lovely ones on her site)
... Have a great day!!

Snowflake Papercuts: My Daughter's Belated Birthday Card...

As I mentioned in the last post, 2011 was a Toy Story year for birthday parties. I chose themes branching out from, but that were not necessarily directly related to, the movies. At least, for the most part. My Daughter and last son had the themes mostly dealing with the actual movies. Here is my daugther's card for her "Ladies of Toys Story: Jessie, Mrs. Potato Head, Bo Peep, and others" Party.

Snowflake Papercuts: My Sons' Belated Birthday Cards...

Actually, even for my lack of presence on the blog, I have created quite a few papercuts. I accomplished many snowflake cuts, and will slowly be posting them. Here are two I made for belated birthday cards to my middle boys... 2011 was a Toy Story year of parties. I try to find themes that are not usually overdone, and so G had a Domino Party, and L had a Lego Party.

LaDonna's Papercutting and Framing Idea...

This is such a neat craft display idea that I just had to share it. My friend, LaDonna is an amazing papercutter. Her work is far superior to mine, so different in style and... amazing. They are more like paper sculptures, where the flowers she makes are 3D!! You really must go see. She also has her work published in a book. You can see more about that on the blog.

Anyway, she posted this idea on her blog, and I thought to pass it on to you. Seems rather simple, and that works for me.

Go see her post here on Framed Vintage Silverware. I would love to use this idea. While I do not have a beautiful selection of vintage knives as she has, I would certainly be able to find scissors or some other such lovely to use instead. ;-)

That is all for now. You may be wondering why I am not sticking to ONLY papercuts on this blog... well, this is my place to share what interests me as well, is it not? I love literature and the written word, crafts of all kinds and such, which is why I call my blog what it is... Wordlets (words and outlets) and Craftivities (crafts and activities)...

Don't worry, More papercuts are on their way!! :-)

From 2008... Old Art Found And Now Included...

Starting out in papercutting, I asked a couple of artists if I could try to copy their work to build my skills. One was Cindy at Scherenschnitte. She was a TREMENDOUS encouragement in the first couple years of learning. I asked her questions, and she was kind enough to answer as best she could. I used mostly her pieces, at the time, for practice, since she was so proactive in her assistance and because her work is so admirable, but I did also do some from a couple other people.

Because I was just getting the handle of things back then, including labeling everything... I have NO idea where I got this from. I made NO mention on the back as to where I got it, and I am so sorry about that. If you recognize this piece, please let me know so I can give credit where credit is due. I have tried to search online, but have not been able to find the source.

I LOVE this papercut. I gave it to my mother-in-law for her 70th birthday card in July of 2008. I recall not including it in my scanned art because it was not my own design, but now that I look at it, it is a pretty good replica for a beginner.

Please ask for permission before using someone else's art. :-) And, label whatever you DO use so you do remember the source. That is said from experience. Oh, the things we learn on our creative journey. Hahah...

Well, I hope you like it as much as I do!!
